- Staff members start out as a barista and make minimum wage plus tips. We do NOT use a “servers wage” and all tips are in addition to hourly pay. We also have opportunities for hourly increases through shift supervisor positions.
- When on shift, employees are allowed a free shift drink and a free shift sandwich of their choice. Employees benefit from 50% off all food and drink items (excluding bottled beverages) when off the clock.
- Lakota offers employees memberships to Big Tree Medical. Big Tree provides an option for primary medical care, discounted generic medications, and discounted lab work. It is not major medical and does not cover things such as hospitalizations or other catastrophic medical situations. For Baristas and supervisors the monthly membership cost is divided 50/50 with Lakota paying half and the employee paying half if the employee desires the insurance. The employee’s portion is approximately $30-40 per month depending on the plan level chosen. For Assistant managers, managers and full-time salaried employees, Lakota pays 100% of the monthly membership cost if the employee desires the insurance.
- Employees at the supervisor level receive paid sick leave. Employees at the assistant manager and manager level receive paid sick leave and paid time off.
Barista Job Responsibilities:
- Memorize recipes and instructions for a large menu of items.
- Prepare high-quality espresso beverages, teas, and food items while maintaining accuracy and speed.
- Deliver excellent and friendly customer service by taking orders, answering questions, and resolving customer concerns.
- Operate cash registers accurately.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop, including dining areas, restrooms, stock area and workstations.
- Monitor and restock inventory throughout shifts.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient operations and positive customer experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
